Sam Mendes' Neal Street Productions Hires BBC Drama Production Guru
BBC director of U.K. drama production hires Nicolas Brown to spearhead television drama ambitions.
LONDON – BBC director of U.K. drama production Nicolas Brown will join Neal Street Productions, the stage, film and TV banner founded by Skyfall director Sam Mendes.
Brown will be tasked with the company’s expansion into television drama, following its recent success with Call the Midwife and The Hollow Crown, both commissioned by and made for the BBC.
Brown will join the board of the company alongside Mendes, Pippa Harris and Caro Newling.
Brown joined the BBC in 2006 as director of drama production, a role that became director of U.K. drama production this year.
He is responsible for the delivery of all BBC network drama produced throughout the U.K.
Neal Street Productions is currently working on a second series of Call the Midwife and will next year produce the stage version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
