Samuel Goldwyn warms to 'Cold Souls'
Picks up U.S. rights to Paul Giamatti Sundance titleSamuel Goldwyn has acquired U.S. rights to "Cold Souls," the Paul Giamatti metaphysical comedy that played the recently wrapped Sundance Film Festival.
Sophie Barthes wrote and directed the film, in which Giamatti, playing an actor named Paul Giamatti, comes upon a service that can store and transplant human souls; he then has his own soul swapped for another, only to encounter unexpected consequences.
Journeyman Pictures and Touchy Feely Films produced the picture, which has drawn comparisons to the work of Charlie Kaufman. Emily Watson also stars.
The buy is Goldwyn's first purchase of a Sundance 2009 film, and marks the 11th title that was sold to a distributor in Park City.
