Sandrine Bonnaire Named President of Deauville American Film Festival Jury
Frederic Beigbeder will preside over the Cartier Revelations Prize Jury for the 38th annual Normandy seaside event.
PARIS - Maddened by His Absence director and prolific actress Sandrine Bonnaire will preside over the jury at the 38th annual Deauville American Film Festival this year, organizers announced on Wednesday.
Best-selling novelist turned director Frederic Beigbeder will head up the Cartier Revelation Prize Jury.
Bonnaire has starred in more than 50 films during her career, including films from Maurice Pialat, Agnes Varda, Jacques Doillon and Andre Techine. After her first feature Her Name Is Sabine, a documentary about her autistic sister, earned awards and critical acclaim, Bonnaire premiered her sophomore film and first feature Maddened by his Absence starring William Hurt at this year’s Cannes Film Festival in the Critics’ Week sidebar.
“The festival is proud, happy and moved to have such a president this year. Her Name is Sandrine,” organizers said in reference to the director’s first feature.
Beigbeder is a media powerhouse in Gaul with 12 novels, numerous literary prizes and hit shows as TV host under his belt. He recently directed his first feature film based on his book Love Lasts Three Years.
The full lineup for this year’s Deauville American Film Festival will be unveiled at a press conference on July 25th. The fest will run from Aug. 31 –Sept. 9 in the Normandy seaside town.
