The writer-director’s first documentary film explores a family history through the sometimes contradictory accounts of its members.
Every family has a story, but they don’t always agree on how that story goes.
Canadian writer-director Sarah Polley explores that notion in her first documentary, Stories We Tell, and The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively debuting the film's trailer.

The National Film Board of Canada documentary tells Polley's family’s story through the different (and sometimes contradictory) accounts of its members.
Screening at the Toronto International Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival, the documentary comes just months after the theatrical release of Polley's Take This Waltz, which stars Seth Rogen, Michelle Williams and Sarah Silverman.
Polley was previously nominated for a Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar in 2007 for her directorial debut, Away From Her.
Polley wrote and directed Stories We Tell with Anita Lee producing and Silva Basmajian serving as executive producer. The film's director of cinematography was Iris Ng, and its editor was Mike Munn.
