Bao Nguyen's film, which is opening the Tribeca Film Festival, will hit theaters in June.
Abramorama is planning a theatrical release for Live From New York!, Bao Nguyen's documentary about Saturday Night Live, which is also set to open the Tribeca Film Festival on April 15. The film will open in select theaters in the U.S. on June 12 and has been booked into Landmark Theater houses in New York, Los Angels and Chicago.
Moviegoers are also being invited to request screenings at their local theaters though the web platform Tugg and by going to LiveFromNewYorkMovie.com.
Ron Mann's Films We Like will release Live From New York! in Canada on June 10.
The doc, which weaves together archival footage with new interviews, was created and produced by JL Pomeroy and Tom Broecker, produced by Kimmie H. Kim, Sarah Cowperthwaite and Owen Moogan and associated produced by Demetra Stavrakas.
"When JL and I first conceived of the idea for this film, it was always our vision that it be released theatrically," Broecker said. "Given that Live From New York! highlights the impact SNL has had on American culture, it's only fitting that it be available to moviegoers across North America," Pomeroy added.
