Savannah Guthrie Toasted by 'Today' Co-Hosts Before Maternity Leave
"We love you, we'll miss you, and we can't wait to see the new little boy," Matt Lauer told his pregnant colleague.
Today's Savannah Guthrie celebrated her last day on the NBC morning show on Friday before going on maternity leave for the birth of her second child with a surprise toast.
Guthrie, who is expecting her second child with husband Mike Feldman, was sent off by the Today cast with a round of champagne — for them, at least. She and pregnant meteorologist Dylan Dreyer enjoyed flutes of apple juice.
"We love you, we'll miss you, and we can't wait to see the new little boy," Matt Lauer said, raising a glass.
Guthrie announced her second pregnancy back in June when she opted out of going to Rio for NBC's Olympics coverage, citing Zika concerns. Guthrie's soon-to-be-born son will join 2-year-old daughter Vale.
"I love you guys so much," Guthrie told her co-stars. "And Vale, you have no idea what's coming," she added, laughing.
Earlier in the show, Guthrie enjoyed sweets and a special, baby-themed version of "Steals and Deals."
Dreyer, who is going on maternity leave next week, wished Guthrie luck and thanked her for all the advice she had passed on. "It's been such an honor and a pleasure to go through this whole process with you," Dreyer told Guthrie. "I've asked you so many questions and you've given me so many wonderful answers. I don't know if they're right, but . . .," she shrugged with a smile.
Dreyer also joked that, unlike Guthrie, she "wants to give birth on air."
