SBS taps Becks for new media post
EmptyLONDON -- Luxembourg-based broadcasting giant SBS Broadcasting has hired Bart Becks as senior vp new media, acting CEO Patrick Tillieux announced Monday.
Becks, who joins from Belgacom Skynet, is scheduled to start in the newly created position beginning Jan. 1.
Becks will be responsible for "the overall development and coordination of digital media services and revenue streams based on the Internet, mobile devices, interactive television services and other emerging digital platforms across all of SBS's operating units," SBS said. He will be based in Amsterdam.
Tillieux said in a statement that Becks' appointment "further underscores the growing attention SBS Broadcasting places on new media, be it second-generation Internet, mobile applications or other emerging delivery modes, in synergy with SBS' traditional television and radio businesses."
Added Tillieux: "He (Becks) is well qualified to lead our increasing efforts to reach and interact with consumers through interactive services, while leveraging SBS' well-established local television and radio brands to attract audiences' attention in a crowded media environment and to build communities of interest."
Becks was most recently CEO of Belgacom Skynet as well as chairman and CEO of Skynet iMotion Activities.
