Schweighofer, Kekilli shooting 'What A Man'

Fox International Pictures Germany co-producing

COLOGNE, Germany -- German star Matthias Schweighofer ("Friendship!" "Rabbit Without Ears") has begun shooting on his directorial debut -- the romantic comedy "What A Man" in which Schweighofer stars alongside Sibel Kekilli ("Head-On," "When We Leave").

Fox International Pictures in Germany is co-producing "What A Man" with Pantaleon Films, the shingle Schweighofer runs with partner Marco Beckmann.

"What A Man" will be Schweighofer's first major project with Fox. The rising star has become a go-talent for the major studio outlets in Germany. Sony released "Friendship!," Warner "Rabbit Without Ears" and Schweighofer-starrer "The Red Baron." Paramount has picked up his next project, the comedy "Russian Disco," which Oliver Schmitz ("Life Above All") is directing.

Schweighofer has also dabbled in international productions, recently taking a supporting role in Bryan Singer's "Valkyrie."

Fox plans to bow "What A Man" in Germany next September.
