Science Channel Sets Live Finale for 'Mythbusters: The Search' (Exclusive)
Four competitors will take part in one final challenge to determine who will take over hosting duties for Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman on the new series.
Science Channel is going live for its finale of Mythbusters: The Search, during which the new "mythbusters" will be announced.
Airing at 9 p.m. ET on Saturday, the finale will follow the final four contenders as they learn who will take over for Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman on the new iteration of the series.
The live finale, featuring Mythbusters: The Search host and Nerdist science editor Kyle Hill, will originate from Jersey City's Liberty Science Center, which currently houses an interactive exhibit dubbed Mythbusters: The Explosive Exhibition.
Mythbusters: The Search premiered in January with 10 contestants tasked with testing myths like whether you can really find a needle in a haystack and whether deflating footballs makes them easier to catch.
The final four contestants are Martin Pepper of Tucson, Ariz.; Brian Louden of Spring, Texas; Jonathan Lung of Staten Island, N.Y.; and Tamara Robertson of Los Angeles. Their final challenge is designed to see if a water heater could be used as a rocket to escape from prison. Watch a sneak peek, which is exclusive to The Hollywood Reporter, below.
MythBusters, which premiered on Discovery Channel in 2003, ended its 14-year run last year, earning eight Emmy noms in the process.
Mythbusters: The Search is produced for Science Channel by Beyond Productions, which produced the original series. Dan Tapster and John Luscombe are executive producers. For Science Channel, Wyatt Channell is executive producer with Lindsey Foster Blumberg as producer.
