Scott Bernstein upped at Universal Pictures
New exec vp of production currently overseeing 'The Thing'Scott Bernstein has been promoted to executive vp of production at Universal Pictures.
He'll report to recently named president of production Debbie Liebling. Universal Pictures co-chairman Donna Langley made the announcement, which follows last week's promotion of studio exec Jeffrey Kirschenbaum, also to exec vp of production.
Langley praised Bernstein for having "a real sense of what's next in pop culture which informs his work on comedies and genre films."
Bernstein is known for his work on geek-oriented projects, including "Hellboy II: The Golden Army." He is currently overseeing a new iteration of horror movie "The Thing," and is developing Dark Horse's graphic novel "The Umbrella Academy," and a feature version of "Battlestar Galactica."
Bernstein has also involved in the studio's comedies such as "The Break-Up" and "Role Models," and is shepherding the Scott Stuber-produced comedy "Your Highness."
Before joining at Universal, Bernstein worked as an exec at Revolution Studios, Lionsgate and Ignite Films. He began his film career at Jon Peters Entertainment.
