Selena Gomez Raps, Offers Self-Congratulations in MTV EMAs Promo (Video)
At 19-years-old, the teen starlet will be the show’s youngest host ever.
Selena Gomez is giving Justin Bieber a run for his money.
Gomez, who is currently on tour with her band Selena Gomez and the Scene, embraces her inner rapper in the first promo for the MTV Europe Music Awards. The teen pop star first appears in a white top and black shorts during the 45-second spot and receives congratulations from her hip-hop alter ego, who dons baggy jeans, an unbuttoned flannel shirt and a bandana around her head.

“Finally I get to host the EMAs. Wow,” she daydreams into the mirror.
“Seriously? Shut your face. Who else could it be?” retorts her reflection. With crimson lips and gold hoop earrings, Gomez then launches into a self-congratulatory rap.
Gomez joins Taylor Swift (or T.Swizzle) and boyfriend Bieber as pop stars who sometimes moonlight in the world of hip-hop. Bieber recently lent his flow to Chris Brown’s mixtape, and made headlines for covering Drake’s “Trust Issues.”
Q&A: Selena Gomez on What to Expect From the MTV Europe Music Awards' Youngest Host Ever
The EMAs are scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 6 in Belfast, Ireland. Gomez recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the upcoming gig, and explained that viewers can expect to see more of her goofy side.
“With the promo that we released, its kind of the direction I want to go in,” she said. “There will be fun and different and things people have never seen me do before.”
