SPTI ups Herran, Lezaun in Iberia
By Pamela Rolfe
MADRID -- Sony Pictures Television International on Tuesday announced the promotions of Carlos Herran to vp programming and production for Spain and Portugal and Jorge Lezaun to vp finance and administration.
The move comes in response to the growing strength of Sony's channels in Spain. AXN, which boasts some 4 million subscribers, and Sony Entertainment Television, SPTI's first unscrambled channel, launched last September.
Lezaun will be responsible for business development and channel distribution and report to senior vp and general manager of SPTI Networks Iberia Juan Maria Romeu and Los Angeles-based vp finance international Mark Rogers.
Herran will direct programming at AXN, including the development of original productions, series and formats, and will handle content for SET. He will report to Romeu.
"Our brand AXN has grown with tremendous strength in Spain and Portugal," Romeu said in a statement. "And a large part of that success is due to the commitment of Jorge and Carlos. Both have formed part of the business since its launch and much of the success we enjoy today including the launch of SET last year is fruit of their work."
Prior to working at SPTI, Lezaun worked as finance controller at Cinema Internacional Corp.
Herran has helped launch thematic channels Canal C, Ella TMSat, Canal Cocina and Tribunal TV.
