Seth Rogen Jokes He Wants to 'Audition to be Tom Cruise's Girlfriend'
The "Knocked Up" star was referencing a sensational new story in Vanity Fair that has Cruise's camp on the offensive.
Seth Rogen says he wants to fire his agent over missing the audition of a lifetime: playing Tom Cruise's real-life sweetheart.
The star was having a little fun at Cruise's expense, referring to a new story in Vanity Fair that claims the actor, backed by the Church of Scientology, auditioned a number of Scientologist actresses as potential mates after Cruise's divorce from Nicole Kidman.
"I have to fire my agent," Rogen tweeted on Tuesday. "I wanted to audition to be Tom Cruise's girlfriend, but she told me it was offer only."
"Offer only" refers to an industry contract clause that allows a big-name actor to circumvent the audition process.
The tweet comes on the same day that Cruise's attorney Bert Fields dismissed the Vanity Fair story as being "a rehash of tired old lies previously run in the supermarket tabloids, quoting the same bogus 'sources.' It’s long, boring and false.”
Despite the latest wave of negative press, Cruise's career is showing no signs of slowing down. The actor stars next in Paramount's Jack Reacher, an adaptation of Lee Child's novel One Shot due in theaters this Christmas, and has recently wrapped filming on Oblivion, a sci-fi thriller from TRON: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski.
I have to fire my agent. I wanted to audition to be Tom Cruise's girlfriend, but she told me it was offer only.
