Several pilots beef up casts
Jason Ritter joins 'Event'; Zach Gilford set for 'Matadors'
As pilot castings are starting to ramp up, Jason Ritter has landed the lead in NBC drama pilot "The Event," Zach Gilford has been tapped to topline ABC's pilot "Matadors," Todd Williams has joined Fox's drama pilot "Ridealong," and Aisha Hinds has been cast in the ABC drama pilot "187 Detroit."
"The Event," from UMS, is a thriller chronicled from multiple points of view that centers on a regular guy (Ritter) fighting his way through the mysterious circumstances of a larger conspiracy.
Ritter, seen in the Sundance movie "The Dry Land," recurs on NBC's midseason drama "Parenthood." He is repped by ICM and manager Joannie Burstein.
"Matadors," from Sony TV, centers on two feuding Chicago families, one in the district attorney's office and the other in the city's most influential private law firm.
"Friday Night Lights" co-star Gilford will play a third-generation Chicago defense attorney.
Gilford, who plays Matt Saracen on "FNL," is repped by WME and D/F Management.
"Ridealong," from 20th, follows one of Chicago's toughest cops as he struggles to clean up the corruption in town.
Williams will play a beat copper who thrives on the adrenaline of his job.
In "187 Detroit," from ABC Studios, a fictional doc crew follows a top homicide division.
Hinds will play an overworked and underpaid lieutenant. Hinds, who has recurred on HBO's "True Blood" and TNT's "Hawthorne," is repped by Greene & Assoc.
