Several pilots expand casts
Traylor Howard, Lyndsy Fonseca among those landing roles
"Monk" alumna Traylor Howard has been cast as the female lead opposite Dana Gould on Gould's comedy pilot at ABC, "How I Met Your Mother's" Lyndsy Fonseca will co-star opposite Maggie Q in the CW's "Nikita," and Will Sasso and Stephanie Lemelin have joined CBS' comedy pilot "Shit My Dad Says."
Meanwhile, Fox is tweaking Greg Garcia's comedy pilot "Keep Hope Alive" by recasting two roles, tapping Shannon Marie Woodward for one.
Elsewhere, Maria Thayer, Lauren Weedman and Mahaley Hessam have been cast in Larry Charles' NBC comedy pilot "Our Show"; James Frain has landed a lead in NBC's drama pilot "The Cape"; Stephen Rea has boarded the CBS drama pilot "Chaos"; former "7th Heaven" co-star David Gallagher has joined the CW's drama pilot "Betwixt"; Sonja Sohn has been added to the ABC drama pilot "Body of Evidence"; and Raoul Trujillo has been cast in ABC's drama pilot "Edgar Floats."
ABC's Gould project stars Gould as a high school guidance counselor and father of two young children who is caught between the old-school parenting beliefs of his father (Brian Dennehy) and the progressive ideas of his wife (Howard). The project brings Howard back to ABC, where she starred in the comedy "Two Guys and a Girl."
In "Nikita," about the training of a new assassin (Maggie Q), Fonseca will play another assassin-in-training, a girl from a deprived background. Fonseca, who recurs as the daughter on "Mother," also had roles on ABC's "Desperate Housewives" and HBO's "Big Love." She is repped by ICM and Management 360.
"Shit," based on the Twitter account, centers on Harry (Ryan Devlin), an unemployed man who is forced to move in with his opinionated dad (William Shatner).
Sasso, repped by APA and Allman/Rea, will play Harry's stepbrother, a cheesy, opportunistic Realtor. Lemelin will play Harry's hip roommate and best friend.
The single-camera "Hope," which was shot in December, centers on Jimmy (Lucas Neff), a 25-year-old single parent raising an infant with the help of his quirky family after the mother of the baby -- with whom he had a one-night stand -- ends up on death row.
Woodward ("The Riches"), repped by Gersh and Untitled, will play a sharp waitress anointed by Jimmy as the perfect woman to help him raise his daughter. Olesya Rulin played the role in the original pilot.
Additionally, the show's producers have decided to switch back the gender of another lead character, Jimmy's unkempt cousin Mike. Originally written as a male, the role was cast female with Kate Micucci. It is being made male again and is in the process of recasting.
"Our Show," executive produced by McG, revolves around a disparate group of people, led by brothers Mike (Nate Corddry) and Jack (Jonathan Sadowski), who begin making episodes of their favorite sci-fi show after it ends.
Thayer ("State of Play") will play Jack's on-again, off-again girlfriend, who makes the costumes for the show. She is repped by APA and Untitled. Weedman ("Hung") will play a self-destructive and overly dramatic waitress/wedding singer. She is repped by UTA and Mosaic. Hessam ("Easy A"), repped by Flutie and Osbrink, will play a teen from a deeply religious Muslim household who is an encyclopedia of pop culture.
On "Cape," about a former cop (David Lyons) who becomes a masked hero to clear his name, the Affirmative-repped Frain ("Tron Legacy") will play the villain, a Richard Branson-like futurist who moonlights as a masked killer.
On "Chaos," about rogue CIA operatives combating bureaucratic gridlock, Rea will play a manipulative middle manager in the Clandestine Administration and Oversight Services.
On "Betwixt," about "changelings" who are responsible for saving humans from evil, Gallagher will play a man with a mysterious skull bracelet.
"Body" is a procedural that centers on a tenacious medical examiner (Dana Delany) with a background as a neurosurgeon. Sohn ("The Wire"), repped by APA and James Suskin Management, will play the eager partner of Detective Bud Morris (John Carroll Lynch).
In "Edgar," about a police psychologist-turned-bounty hunter (Tom Cavanagh), Trujillo will play a bail bondsman. He is repped by the Gary Goddard Agency and Kritzer Levine Wilkins Griffin.
