Seville International Takes Sales Rights to Penelope Cruz' 'Ma Ma'
The indie sales company will launch director Julio Medem's film at Cannes.
TORONTO – Indie distributor Seville International has acquired the international sales rights to the upcoming Spanish feature film Ma Ma, starring Penelope Cruz.
Montreal-based Seville, an indie sales arm aligned with Entertainment One, will launch director Julio Medem's film, to be produced by Cruz, Medem and Morena Films, in association with Backup Media Group, at Cannes.
The Canadian company will also distribute the film in Spain.
Ma Ma portrays Magda (Cruz) as she is confronted with tragedy, and reacts with a surge of life that takes her from the imaginable to the unimaginable.
The film also stars Luis Tosar and Asier Etxeandia.
The deal was negotiated by Alvaro Longoria of Morena Films and Joel Thibout of Backup Media, with eOne's Harold van Lier, as well as Jorge Vazquez and Igor Ibeas for eOne Films Spain.
