Shannon programming boss at NHL Net

Will remain executive vp for the league

TORONTO -- Veteran TV hockey programmer John Shannon has been named executive in charge of programming and production for the cable sports channel NHL Network.

Shannon, whose 30-year career includes executive stints at the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. and NBC, will remain the executive vp programming and production for the NHL as he oversees the Toronto-based NHL Network.

Owned by a consortium that includes the NHL, CTV and Insight Sports, the NHL Network offers 24 hours coverage of professional hockey, including live NHL games, in Canada and the U.S.
