The other winning programs were 'Hollywood Game Night,' 'Chrisley Knows Best' and 'Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown.'

When Howie Mandel hosted the first Reality Awards competition during a luncheon at NATPE/Content First on Tuesday he recalled the words of the late Robin Williams who said, “Reality! What a concept.”

Mandel noted this was the first Reality Awards and then announced winners in five categories.

The award for reality competition show went to Shark Tank.

Shark Tank executive producer Clay Newbill accepted the award accompanied onstage by two of the Sharks – Daymond John and Kevin O’Leary.

“I’d like to thank the folks at ABC,” said Newbill, “who stuck with Shark Tank when it wasn’t a hit and they believed it could find an audience and it eventually did.”

The award for docusoap went to Chrisley Knows Best and was accepted by Todd Chrisley, who thanked the USA Network and the producers.

The award for best reality game show went to Hollywood Game Night. An NBC executive accepted on behalf of NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt, declaring, “At NBC we love game shows.”

The award for reality show went to Naked and Afraid. In accepting an executive thanked those who “not only bare their bodies on this show, they bare their souls as well.”

The final category was factual shows, and the winner was Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown. An executive from CNN accepted and explained Bourdain was off shooting his next show in another exotic location. He cited as examples of exotic locales where the show has shot Tanzania, Vietnam … and the Bronx.
