Michael Jackson is "reviewing and evaluating" proposals for his future, including several offers to perform in Las Vegas, his spokeswoman said, but he doesn't feel any pressure to make a quick decision. Raymone Bain confirmed that, after a period of globe-trotting, Jackson has been living in Las Vegas for a few months.

"Mr. Jackson has been presented numerous proposals — proposals which he has not solicited but were presented to him, several of which include performing in Las Vegas," Bain said. "Mr. Jackson is currently reviewing and evaluating each proposal."

No details of the offers were released. Bain could not be immediately reached by phone.

Bain said she issued the statement to counteract a number of false rumors, including one that Jackson has failed to find a Las Vegas casino for a show and another that he soon would appear on "American Idol."

Society of Singers has chosen singer-guitarist George Benson to receive the Satchmo Award, an honor created by the Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation that goes to artists who reflect the spirit of Louis Armstrong and the inspiring belief in the power each of us has to improve the world around us.

"George Benson is a 10-time Grammy winner, a great vocalist and an incredible guitarist, but he's also just a wonderful human being," said Charles Wallert, president of Chapter East SOS. "The award is designed to reward both talent and benevolence, and George has both."

The Satchmo Award will be presented during Benson's concert April 27 at the Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood, N.J.
