Shed Media adds execs in new British invasion
EmptyShed Media is expanding its U.S. operations with the hiring of five development executives.
The U.K.-based umbrella of companies that includes Ricochet TV, Twenty Twenty, Wall to Wall, Shed Prods. and Outright Distribution has 30% of its profit coming from the U.S., where it produces such series as Bravo's "The Real Housewives of New York City," ABC's "Supernanny" and NBC's upcoming "Who Do You Think You Are?"
Burrad Marsh, most recently head of series development at Alchemy TV ("Flashpoint"), is joining Shed Media U.S. as vp scripted development.
Tom Huffman has been tapped as director of unscripted development. He comes from Mark Burnett Prods., where he shepherded "Rock Band Battle" on MTV.
Deborah Ridpath will serve as development producer and oversee the development and production of new programming and the adapting of formats for the U.S.
Ross Greenberg, formerly of World of Wonder Prods., and Brian Robles, from TLC, will work as development associate producers.
In announcing a 6% jump in pretax profit to $18 million for 2008, Shed Media CEO Nick Southgate said the firm is seeking to add more companies.
"Any acquisitions have got to be significant, from £15 million ($22 million) to $44 million," he said. (partialdiff)
