Shed Media Taps John Hesling as Programming Senior VP
The BBC Worldwide alum joins the Warner Bros.-owned production company in a newly created position, where he will oversee the 13-series roster.
Shed Media US has added BBC Worldwide Productions alum John Hesling in the newly created role of programming senior vp. The growing production arm of Shed Media Group has seen seven new series ordered to production in the last nine months.
"Shed Media aims to continue to build on its strong presence in unscripted with formats and character-driven programming for both broadcast and cable," says general manager Pam Healey. "John brings an incredible wealth of experience as both a showrunner and an executive, and he has the respect of the creative community. His masterful abilities as a storyteller across a variety of genres -- from entertainment to male-skewing programming -- have allowed him to successfully adapt many international formats here in the U.S. John's skills and relationships perfectly complement the talented team here at Shed, and I am so excited to be working with him."
The new position comes at a time of big growth for Shed Media, majority owned by Warner Bros. Television Group. The stateside production arm of the British company now has a roster of 13 series across eight networks.
Hesling comes to Shed from BBC Worldwide Productions. While there, he served as executive producer on History channel's American version of Top Gear. He also served as BBC Worldwide Los Angeles' senior vp programming after first joining the company in 1999.
Shed Media US' catalog includes The Real Housewives of New York, Hollywood Exes, Who Do You Think You Are? and the upcoming series Basketball Wives Los Angeles.
