Shephard, Robin cut 3-year deal
EmptyGreer Shephard and Michael M. Robin have inked a new three-year overall deal with Warner Bros. Television and Warner Horizon Television.
Under the pact, the producing duo behind the hit dramas "Nip/Tuck" on FX and "The Closer" on TNT will continue to develop and produce series projects for the studio through their Shephard/Robin Co.
"Greer and Mike are the embodiment of both creativity and resourcefulness, a much-coveted combination of qualities in our business," said WBTV president Peter Roth, who also oversees Warner Horizon TV. "We're thrilled to continue our long-standing association with this extraordinarily talented team."
Through their partnership with WBTV, Shephard and Robin led the studio's successful foray into cable series with "Nip/Tuck," which has been picked up for a fifth season, and "Closer," which is returning for a third season in the summer.
The two are now major players at Warner Horizon TV, the new division devoted to lower-cost cable TV and reality programming that WBTV launched last spring.
The Shephard/Robin Co.'s latest series, "State of Mind" -- a Lili Taylor-starring comedic drama that recently was picked up to series by Lifetime -- is co-produced by Warner Horizon TV.
"Greer and I are thrilled to extend our existing relationship with our friends at Warner Bros.," Robin said. "Peter Roth is a wonderful partner and friend who has given us the freedom to develop wherever we want, which has allowed us to experience great success in the cable television world."
The new deal continues Shephard and Robin's partnership with WBTV, where they have been based for about six years.
Shephard and Robin have been producing partners since 1997, when Shephard left ABC after a 5 1/2-year run as a comedy and drama development executive. Their first series was the WB Network dramedy "Popular."
