Sheryl Sandberg Pens Hillary Clinton Endorsement: "The Leader We Need"
"History is not a movie that plays out before us; it is the result of choices we make," the Facebook executive wrote.
Sheryl Sandberg has offered her full support to Hillary Clinton.
The Facebook operations chief took to her own social media site Thursday night to write a resounding 350-word pitch for Clinton's candidacy, calling the former first lady "the leader we need."
The post got more than 30,000 likes and 2,000 shares, an indication of Sandberg's influential status as a leader in the tech space. Her 2013 book Lean In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead topped both The New York Times and Amazon best-seller lists, offering advice to women about how to climb the corporate ladder.
"Just a few years ago," Sandberg wrote, "I played a song for my kids that named all the U.S. presidents. My daughter asked, 'Mommy, how come they're all boys?' We are close to making my daughter's question a relic of the past. Watching this historic moment with my children, I am thinking about our past and their future."
Sandberg sits on the board of the Walt Disney Company. Before joining Facebook, she was a vice president at Google.
