Shine America Taps Mike Aho as SVP Factual Entertainment (Exclusive)
In a continued bid to expand the production company's unscripted efforts, the veteran comes with a resume that includes "Dance Moms," "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" and "The Bachelorette."
Shine America is looking to expand its reality reach. The producers of competitions MasterChef, The Face and The Biggest Loser are moving into docuseries and have tapped Mike Aho to lead the push.
President Eden Gaha announced to Tuesday that Aho has been named evp factual entertainment, moving over from Collins Avenue, where he most recently served as vp factual programming.
“Mike truly brings with him a wealth of production experience, and we are thrilled to have him joining our team to help lead us into the burgeoning docuseries genre,” says Gaha.
In the newly created position, Aho will lead development and production efforts on factual programming, identifying original domestic stories that also have potential for global formatting.
“I couldn’t be more excited to be joining Shine America, which clearly has a lot of momentum and a tremendous team of unscripted development executives within its ranks," added Aho.
While at Collins Avenue, Aho created, developed and ran such unscripted fare as Lifetime's Dance Moms franchise, Animal Planet's American Stuffers and E! Network's Drama Queen.
Prior to his time at Collins, he also served as a co-executive producer at Glassman Media and has producer credits on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and The Bachelorette.
