Shine Reveille hosting mini-screenings
Move comes in response to sluggish L.A. ScreeningsLONDON -- Following a disappointing L.A. Screenings during which few international buyers put cash on the table, Elisabeth Murdoch's Shine Reveille has become the first producer to stage its own mini-screenings in Europe in the fall.
Shine will present primetime network series including "Surviving Suburbia," "In Harm's Way" and "Valentine's Inc." to European buyers Sept. 8-10 in London, and will also unveil the remainder of its fall scripted and unscripted lineup.
The majority of European buyers returned empty-handed from last month's Screenings, frustrated at seeing only a handful of incomplete pilots and unclear how the shows would be played by the networks.
Shine Reveille is unlikely to be the only producer keen to show its pilots when they are completed later in the summer and fall. Industry insiders predict that studios including Disney and Sony will host similar events in a bid to woo crucial international buyers.
