ShineReveille inks output deals
Three pacts signed ahead London screeningsShineReveille International is heading into its weeklong screenings in London next week with a series of output deals.
The international sales and distribution arm of the Shine Group has inked pacts with Europe's SBS station group, Middle East Broadcasting Center and New Zealand's Sky Television.
This marks a strategic change for Reveille's international arm, which had only a couple of output deals, including one with Australia's Network Ten, in its first six years before it was acquired in February by Elisabeth Murdoch's Shine. It reflects the evolution of the company, which started offering unscripted formats and gradually added to the mix finished unscripted and scripted product.
"We have at this point such a tremendous amount and diversity of content that it makes sense to create alliances with strategic partners," ShineReveille International president Chris Grant said.
The growth has been so rapid that at October's MIPCOM ShineReveille is expected to offer 10 times the amount of content it did at the spring's MIP TV program market.
The output deals come on the heels of ShineReveille's deals with Canada's Citytv and with Germany's Tele Munchen for the MRC catalog, whose international distribution is handled by ShineReveille.
MRC's slate, including new CW series "Valentine," "Easy Money" and "In Harm's Way," HBO's "The Life & Times of Tim" and Lifetime's "Rita Rocks," will be the centerpiece of ShineReveille's five-day screenings in London, which will be accompanied by a showcase for Latin American buyers in Miami held at the same time.
Also on tap for the screening and dealmaking marathon next week are scripted series "The Listener," set to launch on NBC and Canada's CTV, and Channel 4's upcoming "Plus One."
ShineReveille's unscripted slate include Channel 4's "The Family," which chronicles family life "Big Brother"-style, Fox Reality Channel's "Solitary," VH1's "I Want to Work for Diddy," Bravo's "Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling" and TLC's "Who Are You Wearing."
Additionally, ShineReveille has signed on to handle distribution for Frappe's "Spain... On the Road Again," a travel series for PBS starring Gwyneth Paltrow.
To support its expanding European operations, ShineReveille has promoted Los Angeles-based coordinator Eli Shibley to serve as manager of international distribution and creative affairs in its London office, joining Kate Ward, manager of Eastern Europe.
