'Life Unexpected's' Shiri Appleby to Star in Alloy's 'Dating Rules' (Exclusive)
The nine-episode web series will revolve around a woman who gets dating advice text messages from herself 10 years in the future.
The company behind Gossip Girl and The Vampire Diaries has tapped Shiri Appleby to star in its upcoming web series, Dating Rules From My Future Self.
Dating, an original Alloy Entertainment concept written by Wendy Weiner, centers on a 29-year-old woman (Appleby) who gets text messages from herself 10 years in the future warning her to radically change her dating strategy.

The former Life Unexpected star will also produce the project, slated for nine episodes, with Alloy's Josh Bank, Bob Levy and Tripp Reed. Production is set to begin in Los Angeles this month, with plans for a January 2012 premiere.

The news comes as Alloy continues to build its programming slate on the Web and TV. Dating will be the company's six Web effort, joining First Day 2: First Dance and Wendy, starring Tyler Blackburn and Meaghan Martin.
On television, Alloy is also behind the CW's newcomer The Secret Circle as well as ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars and the recently upped The Lying Game. The company will roll out live-action music series How to Rock on Nickelodeon in January.
Appleby is repped by Gersh and John Carrabino.
