Too Short Arrested for DUI and Drug Possession
The rapper was pulled over for a traffic violation early Wednesday in Hollywood.
West Coast rapper Too Short was arrested early Wednesday morning on suspicion of narcotics possession and drunken driving.
Law officials tell TMZ that Too Short, born Todd Anthony Shaw, was pulled over for a traffic violation near Hollywood Boulevard and Las Palmas Avenue in Hollywood. He was taken into custody on suspicion of drunken driving and possessing drugs, according to the Los Angeles Times.
When officials tried to administer a breathalyzer test after appearing to be under the influence, the 46-year-old tried to run before being apprehended, according to multiple outlets. Sources tell TMZ that Too Short blew a .09, just above the legal limit of .08.
He allegedly also tried to dump drugs in the back of the police car.
This isn't the first time Too Short has gotten into trouble. He was arrested in 2009 for suspicion of DUI and other charges while in Las Vegas. In 2010 he was arrested and charged with three counts of misdemeanor battery after getting into a fight at an Idaho nightclub.
The Los Angeles rapper had a string of seven consecutive platinum albums -- bookended by three that went gold -- from 1989-99, but his career stalled in the 2000s. He amassed eight Top 10 singles on the Billboard rap chart including "The Ghetto," "More Freaky Tales," "Invasion of the Flat Booty Bitches" and "2 Bitches."
