Shortlist tabbed for RAAM nods
EmptyLONDON -- A total of 33 films, distributors and cinemas have been shortlisted in the 2007 RAAM Awards -- part of the annual RAAM conference for U.K. and international film distributors and exhibitors, which takes place Feb. 6-8 at the Radisson Edwardian Mayfair Hotel in London.
In addition to industry achievement awards being presented to Warner Bros International Cinemas president Millard Ochs, Mike Boyce of Warner Bros. Pictures U.K. and Frank Pierce of the Film Distributors Assn., the top-performing films and theaters of 2006 will be honored.
"As expected, the major films distributed in 2006 figure prominently in the lineup as do the major and independent cinemas across the U.K. and Ireland," RAAM Management director Rob Arthur said.
"Casino Royale," "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" and "The Da Vinci Code" are shortlisted for the 2006 movie of the year distributed by a major studio.
"The Departed," "Final Destination 3" and "Brokeback Mountain" made the cut for independently distributed films.
20th Century Fox, United International Pictures and Sony Pictures are vying for the distributor of the year award.
"The awards in this section were based on boxoffice performance as reported to Nielsen EDI," Arthur said. "In the cinema exhibition categories, nominations were invited from U.K. and Irish film distributors who voted independently. There are separate awards for both major and independent operators."
