The media distributor inks an exclusive multi-year deal for a slew of titles from ITV Studios Global Entertainment.
Shout! Factory, the Santa Monica-based multiplatform media distributor, has inked a deal with ITV Studios Global Entertainment to bring a library of cinema classics including the Meryl Streep-starrer Sophie's Choice and The Eagle Has Landed, starring Michael Caine, Donald Sutherland and Robert Duvall, to the home entertainment marketplace in the U.S and Canada.
The exclusive multiyear deal will give U.S. and Canadian audiences the opportunity to watch more than 30 film properties from ITVS GE across home entertainment and select digital platforms.
Other titles in the deal include On Golden Pond with Katharine Hepburn and Henry Fonda; The Last Unicorn starring Jeff Bridges, Alan Arkin and Mia Farrow; and the Richard Burton-Sophia Loren classic Brief Encounter.
The deal was announced by Shout! Factory’s founders Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos and Carol Lee, senior vp home entertainment Americas for ITVS GE.
"Many of these iconic films have been unavailable or long out-of-print in the home entertainment marketplace," they said in a statement. "We look forward to bringing these cinematic treasures back to their original luster and present these films to movie fans and collectors on digital entertainment platforms as well as at retail."
Lee noted that ITVS GE's catalog "boasts some internationally acclaimed films, and this deal with Shout! Factory will give U.S. and Canadian consumers the opportunity to view some of these cinematic classics across physical and digital platforms."
Shout! Factory and ITVS GE are working to remaster some of the titles, many of which have never been available on Blu-ray or DVD.
ITVS GE controls the DVD rights to the Rank and ITC film collections, containing more than 1,500 iconic British films.
