ShowEast 2012: Richard Fay to Receive Top Humanitarian Award
Lionsgate president of domestic distribution Richard Fay will be honored with the 2012 Salah M. Hassanein Humanitarian Award at ShowEast, the upcoming convention of theater owners in Hollywood, Florida.
The award was established in 1987 and has been presented to a leader in the industry each year who has distinguished him or herself in the philanthropic community.
ShowEast runs Nov. 5-8.
“It is with great pride that we announce Richard Fay as the 2012 recipient of the Salah M. Hassanein Humanitarian Award,” noted Robert Sunshine, managing director of ShowEast.
“Richie has been at the forefront in supporting humanitarian and charitable organizations both within and outside the cinema exhibition and distribution communities and we are pleased to honor him with this prestigious award.”
Fay is a board member of The Options for Life Foundation and the Will Rogers Institute. He's also a board member of The Motion Picture Club of New York (he previously was vice president).
Before the Lionsgate-Summit Entertainment merger, Fay was president of domestic distribution for Summit. He has more than 40 years of experience in the distribution-exhibition business, including serving as president of AMC Film Marketing for 10 years.
ShowEast is operated by a division of Prometheus Media, parent company of The Hollywood Reporter.
