The recent success of independent cinema in the commercial marketplace owes as much to the exhibition community as it does to the films themselves, according to a group of key indie players who took part in a ShoWest panel Wednesday.

ShoWest 2007 got off to big start Tuesday as producers Jerry Bruckheimer unveiled the trailer for the highly-anticipated "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End." MPAA chairman Dan Glickman also addressed the state of the exhibition business, citing the success of Warner Bros.' "300" as evidence that the business is back in stride.

Worldwide theatrical boxoffice for 2006 reached $25.8 billion, with high hopes for this summer. Paramount's Andrew Cripps and 20th Century Fox 's Christian Grass discuss the numbers with Nielsen's Eric Mika.
