It's Showtime for Moloney, Modine

Showtime is beefing up the casts of its returning series, with Janel Moloney joining the drama "Brotherhood" and Matthew Modine coming on board the comedy "Weeds."

Additionally, Zooey Deschanel, who played Andy Botwin's (Justin Kirk) quirky ex-girlfriend Kat in several episodes of "Weeds" last season, is coming back for the third-season opener. Also set to guest star on the acclaimed comedy this coming season is Carrie Fisher.

Modine is set to appear in 10 episodes of the Lionsgate-produced "Weeds," playing a real estate developer who has romantic dalliances with both Celia (Elizabeth Perkins) and Nancy (Mary-Louise Parker). Nancy goes on to work for him as his personal assistant. Fisher will play Celia's divorce lawyer.

Modine, who next will appear in the feature "Go Go Tales," set to premiere this month at the Festival de Cannes, is repped by Innovative Artists, Untitled Entertainment and attorney Jeff Bernstein.

On "Brotherhood," Moloney will do four episodes playing a woman who has an affair with Tommy Caffee (Jason Clarke).

Moloney is best known for her role as Donna Moss in NBC's "The West Wing." Her other credits include the title role in the CBS telefilm "Amber Frey: Witness for the Prosecution."

She is repped by Gersh Agency and manager James Suskin.
