'The Franchise': S.F. Giants Reality Series Adds Two Episodes

The baseball docu-series' debut season featured a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the San Francisco Giants as they tried for another World Series win in 2011, delving into the off-the-field lives of players, coaches and team personnel.

Enter the Marlins: the Florida outfit recently acquired A-list talent including Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle, Heath Bell and Carlos Zambrano, adding to a lineup of stars such as Hanley Ramirez, Josh Johnson and Mike Stanton.

The team also has engineered a relaunch with a name switch (from Florida to Miami), a new ballpark and new uniforms. On top of that, Ozzie Guillen will no doubt chew scenery as the Marlins' new blunt, made-for-TV manager.

"Miami is not only one of the most sexy and cosmopolitan cities in the country, but has become one of the best sports towns as well," said David Nevins, Showtime's president of entertainment. "The Franchise has worked for us because it appeals to both the hard core sports fan as well as audiences interested in compelling, unscripted drama. A newly rebuilt Miami Marlins franchise full of big player personalities, and led by the larger-than-life Ozzie Guillen, are an ideal team for season two of The Franchise."

Filming on season two will begin during the off-season and continue in Jupiter, Fla., for spring training and then through the regular season. The show is produced by MLB Productions with the consent of the Major League Baseball Players Association. A premiere date has yet to be announced.
