'Silverman' golden for Comedy
Empty"The Sarah Silverman Program" got off to a promising start for Comedy Central.
The network's new original series drew an average of 1.8 million total viewers last week in its premiere. That figure makes the show's debut the best for a Comedy Central original since the premiere of the animated series "Drawn Together" (2.2 million viewers) in 2004.
"Silverman," which premiered from 10:30-11 p.m. Thursday, also garnered 1.3 million viewers in adults 18-49, making it Thursday's most-watched primetime cable program in the demo.
The series features Sarah Silverman playing a character -- named Sarah Silverman -- whose absurd daily life is told through an array of scripted scenes and song. The show co-stars her real-life sister Laura Silverman, Brian Posehn, Steve Agee and Jay Johnston.
