Simon Cowell to Attend ‎'X Factor' U.K. Auditions After Mother's Death

The events will begin in Manchester on Wednesday instead of the original plans for a Monday start.

Auditions for the new season of ITV talent show The X Factor U.K. ‎are set to start on Wednesday, with creator and judge Simon Cowell attending following the death of his mother on Sunday.

Auditions were originally set to begin on Monday, but producers announced a delay due to the death.

“We can confirm that The X Factor auditions scheduled for Tuesday have been canceled," said a spokesman for the show in an update late Monday night. "We will now start auditions in Manchester on Wednesday and Thursday this week."

Cowell will attend the Wednesday and Thursday auditions, according to sources.

The judges for the U.K. show are Cowell, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw.
