'Sitter' finds a home with Atomic, De Luca

Fox Atomic must have just gotten its allowance. The Fox division Wednesday purchased Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka's original screenplay "The Sitter," with Michael De Luca on board to produce. A day earlier, the company bought the comedy pitch "Girlfriend in a Coma" from Marco Schnabel and Larry Stuckey.

Both are edgy, youth-oriented comedies, which would plant them in the same demo as upcoming releases "Miss March," due in March, and the Diablo Cody-penned "Jennifer's Body," a horror-comedy starring Megan Fox that's set for September.

De Luca has "Brothers," from writer David Benioff and director Jim Sheridan, in production. He most recently produced "The Love Guru" and "21."

Gatewood and Tanaka, repped by UTA and Industry Entertainment, are working on "How Soon Is Now" for Scott Stuber and "Overachievers" for 21 Laps, both at Universal. The duo also wrote "Hairstyles of the Damned," which producer Nick Wechsler is developing at Sony/BMG.
