'Skins' Star Daniel Kaluuya to Co-Star in Denis Villenueve's 'Sicario' (Exclusive)
Benicio Del Toro, Emily Blunt and Josh Brolin have already boarded the drug-war-themed film for Lionsgate.
Daniel Kaluuya has signed on to co-star in Denis Villenueve's Sicario.
The actor, who is best known for playing Posh Kenneth in the Brit teen drama Skins, joins Benicio Del Toro, Emily Blunt and Josh Brolin in the drug-war-themed film that will be distributed worldwide by Lionsgate. Black Label is financing.
Penned by Taylor Sheridan, the story is set against the backdrop of the border wars between the cartels in Mexico and the Americans trying to stop the violence from creeping over the border. Kaluuya will play Reggie Wayne, an FBI agent partnered with Blunt's character.
Basil Iwanyk is producing alongside Molly Smith, Trent Luckinbill, Thad Luckinbill and Ed McDonnell. Erica Lee and John Starke are exec producing.
Erik Feig, Geoff Shaevitz and Matthew Janzen are overseeing the project for the studio.
Kaluuya was most recently seen in Kick-Ass 2 and Welcome to the Punch. He co-starred in Working Title's Johnny English Reborn opposite Rowan Atkinson and was the winner of the Evening Standard Award and Critics' Circle Theatre Award for Outstanding Newcomer in 2010 for his performance in Sucker Punch at the Royal Court Theatre in London.
