Sky Sports to Mic up Golfer for British Masters Coverage
"For the first time in world golf," Nick Dougherty will wear a player microphone and interact with commentators at various points, says the company.
Pan-European pay TV giant Sky's Sky Sports in Britain will in its British Masters golf tournament coverage incorporate a live player microphone.
"For the first time in world golf, Nick Dougherty, three-time European Tour winner and Sky Academy ambassador, will wear a microphone during the tournament and speak directly to Sky Sports commentators at various points during play," said the company on Wednesday.
The news is part of moves to make sports coverage more immersive. Said Jason Wessely, Sky Sports head of golf: "Our aim is to take the coverage further and engage with viewers in new and exciting ways, to showcase a fantastic event."
Sky Sports will air 30 hours of coverage of the four-day event.
