SoapNet nabs SPT films

'Hitch' among titles bound for Sunday Night Movie block

SoapNet has acquired a package of 19 films, including "Hitch" and "Fun With Dick and Jane," from Sony Pictures Television for the cable network's Sunday Night Movie block.

Also included are "Something's Gotta Give," "Sleepless in Seattle," "My Best Friend's Wedding," "Jerry Maguire," "Groundhog Day," "Roxanne," "Fools Rush In," "Postcards From the Edge," "Only You," "It Could Happen to You," "Crazy in Alabama," "Ice Castles," "Loverboy," "Cruel Intentions 2," "Mixed Nuts," "Nadine" and "Lone Star State of Mind."

"SoapNet added movies to its programming slate a year ago in an effort to expand 'soapy' programming and extend its reach," said Brian Frons, president of daytime at Disney-ABC Television Group. "Each of the titles offers an entry point for new viewers."

The movies begin airing this month at 10 p.m. Sundays.
