#SocialGathering: There's an "Make American Vogue Great Again" Hat; #TrumpMyHand
And Selena Gomez's $665 sweatpants.
Can't keep up with what's been going on in the social media world? Fret not. Here, a gathering of what the stars have been up to this week on social media.
"Make American Vogue Great Again"
Donald Trump's red and white embroidered hats quickly became fodder for endless puns as soon as they were released. The quips are endless: "Make America Skate Again" and "Make America Fabulous Again" are just some of the Trump hat alternatives. But it’s safe to say no one saw a "Make American Vogue Great Again" hat coming, as EIC Anna Wintour is omnipotent in the fashion world, and everyone knows there is no Vogue without Anna. After doing a little detective work, or as we affectionately call it in the social media world, "lurking," we discovered the account follows the who’s who of editors, writers and designers. Someone in the know likely runs the account, and it’s only a matter of time before a brave soul dares to wear that hat.
Every Outfit on Sex and the City
Fans of Sex and the City, rejoice. Instagram account @everyoutfitonsatc features a daily screenshot of legendary looks worn by Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) or Miranda (Cynthia Nixon). The account connects OG fans of the show with millennials, as the snark level is at an all-time high. With captions like: "Hip-hop-meets-burning-man-meets-I-stopped-taking-my-medication is actually a really chill look" on a photo of Carrie in bamboo door knockers, bandana, a watercolor Chanel blouse and tie-dye leggings. How could you not double tap?
You know that old expression, "the bigger the hand, the bigger the ..." The Hollywood Reporter effectively refuted Trump's large hands claim by measuring Trump’s 7 1/4-inch-long right hand from a bronze cast located at Madame Tussaud's N.Y. location. Click here for a printable, life-size image of one of Trump's hands and come to your own conclusions about the presidential candidate.
Kim Kardashian's Charitable Heart
Before giving the keynote speech at the 2016 BlogHer convention on Friday, Kim Kardashian lunched with families that lost loved ones due to gun violence. Joined by mother Kris Jenner and sisters Kourtney, Khloe and Kendall, the reality star posed the question: "Life is so precious! What will it take for this to stop?"
Oval Sunglasses and $665 Sweatpants
Selena Gomez is bringing back oval sunglasses made famous by R&B acts like the late Aaliyah, TLC and Brandy. Fashion seemed to be headed in this direction anyway, as chokers and other '90s favorites have made a comeback this year. What got fans really antsy this week was the singer's Vetements sweatpants, which retail for $665 (if you're interested). If you want the real '90s authentic vibe, stick to affordable brands like Champion and Nike.
Nicole and Margot’s Unicorn Squad
While the critics are panning Suicide Squad, fashion editors are giving Margot Robbie’s press tour looks an A+. Robbie, styled by Kate Young, attended the New York premiere in an Alexander McQueen unicorn gown. She isn’t the first to wear a sequined unicorn gown, however. Nicole Kidman attended the ACM Awards also in an Alexander McQueen from the fall 2016 collection.
Ryan Lochte Goes Silver
Ryan Lochte loves to keep the people guessing what’s next, and his bizarre antics range from wearing a grill to babbling about nonsense on reality TV. Though he hopes to win the gold, the Olympian dyed his hair silver.
