'Sons of Anarchy' Record Ratings Prompt Kurt Sutter’s Return to Twitter
The FX show’s creator will also make good on his offer to fly a fan to Los Angeles to watch an episode with him and Katey Sagal.
The prodigal Twitter son has returned. Kurt Sutter is back on Twitter.
FX’s biker drama Sons of Anarchy (SOA) hit record ratings with the premiere of Season 4 on Tuesday night.
The 90-minute fourth season premiere scored the series' highest ratings ever, delivering 4.94 million total viewers at 10 p.m., a 20 percent uptick from its third season opener.
FX has also announced that the episode is the cable network's most-watched single episode ever for an original show. The show stars Charlie Hunnam, Katey Sagal, Ron Perlman and Maggie Siff.

The successful premiere will result in two things from the show’s creator Sutter: He’s back on Twitter, and he’s making a couple lucky fan’s day.
A day after The Hollywood Reporter asked Sutter what it would take for him to return to Twitter, he started hinting that if he reached 66,666 followers he would return. But with the success of the show’s premiere, he’s decided to rejoin the Twitterverse right away.

Sutter had left Twitter after making outspoken comments against AMC’s Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner and also lamenting his own show's Emmy snub. When The Hollywood Reporter asked what it would take to get him back, he said “I need a graceful re-enty so I don’t look like a desperate hypocrite douchebag who was gone for a week and then came back.”
Before the premiere of Season 4, Sutter had posted on his blog that, if the ratings were to increase in Season 4 by ten percent, he would fly one Twitter follower and one of his blog followers out to Los Angeles for a viewing party of the tenth episode from this season.

“I believe that is Thanksgiving week so I might even be able to convince a few cast members to join us. Perhaps we'll call it a party,” he wrote.
“My wife, not only is she beautiful and loving, she puts out a nice spread,” he wrote of his wife, Katey Sagal, who stars on the show as Gemma. He also promised to send a swag basket, with SOA merchandise and a signed script to two international fans.

So, since the Season 4 premiere gave the show a 20 percent increase from last season, Sutter says he’s following through with his promise.
“yes, trip and swag will be gifted. i'll choose this weekend. post it on my blog on Monday,” he wrote on Twitter. In addition, he writes on his blog that the fan visit may even be turned into a Season 4 DVD extra.
