Sony Pictures TV Studios Elevates Karen Tatevosian to Oversee U.S. Business Affairs
She steps into the role formerly filled by Jeff Frost, who was promoted in July to president of the studio.
Sony Pictures Television Studios has found Jeff Frost's successor.
Karen Tatevosian has been promoted to exec vp U.S. business affairs, filling the role left vacant when Frost was named president in July.
She will report to senior executive vp business affairs Corii Berg, and will oversee the studio's U.S. business affairs, including negotiations with talent and partners across all platforms, as well as day-to-day operations and strategic counsel on the company's network, cable and syndicated TV productions.
Tatevosian is a 13-year Sony veteran, having worked on negotiations for scripted series (The Blacklist, SWAT, Justified, Rescue Me) and unscripted (Shark Tank). She also worked on deals with the studio's roster of writers, producers and directors.
Before Sony, she worked at DreamWorks Television where she oversaw business strategy and negotiations on licensing, co-productions and studio deals, in addition to day-to-day negotiations on series including Spin City and Freaks & Geeks. She got her start in business and legal affairs at then-Fox Family Channel (now Freeform).
Tatevosian is the latest exec change at Sony following the exits of presidents Jamie Erlicht and Zack Van Amburg left for Apple in June. Frost was named president the following month, and Chris Parnell and Jason Clodfelter were named co-presidents the following month.
Other recent hirings and promotions include head of drama development Lauren Stein, new senior vp drama development Andrew Plotkin and new head of current Jeffrey Glaser, among others.

Today we are announcing that Karen Tatevosian has been promoted to executive vice president, U.S. business affairs for Sony Pictures Television Studios (SPTS), effective immediately. Karen will report to Corii Berg, senior executive vice president for business affairs, and will oversee the studio's U.S. business affairs, including negotiations with talent and partners across all platforms, as well as day-to-day operations and strategic counsel on the company's network, cable and syndicated television productions.
Karen has nearly 20 years of television business affairs experience in the industry; the last 13 of which have been here. At SPTS she has driven negotiations for many of our leading scripted and non-scripted projects from development through production, including The Blacklist, S.W.A.T, The Get Down, Justified, Rescue Me and Shark Tank, as well as term deals with our premiere writers, producers and directors.
Prior to joining Sony, Karen was in business affairs at DreamWorks Television overseeing all aspects of business strategy and negotiations on licensing, co-production and studio pod deals, as well as overseeing the day-to-day negotiations on such shows such as Spin City, Freaks & Geeks, The Job and Taken. Karen began her career in business and legal affairs at Fox Family Channel structuring and negotiating business deals and implementing production strategy on behalf of the studio and network for the launch of the network’s reality/alternative block.
