Sony Pictures Enjoys Pre-Release Buzz of 'XP3D' in Spain
3D horror film stars current Spanish heartthrobs including Maxi Iglesias.
MADRID - Buzz swirled through cyberspace as Spain's youth prepared for Tuesday's premiere of XP3D, which clusters Spain's hottest twentysomething actors in a 3D paranormal horror tale.
Local newspapers, Twitter and Facebook chatter showed Sony Pictures Releasing's title was benefitting from pre-release excitement.
Sergi Vizcaino directs the film produced by Rodar y Rodar and Antena 3 Films as the latest installment in Spain's catalogue of original genre film.
But this film offers more than just horror. Luis Fernandez, Amaia Salamanca and Maxi Iglesias are Spain's current crushes.
Fernandez enjoys fame from his sexy, sensitive role on Antena 3's Los Protegidos, while Iglesias' traffic-stopping good looks and acting chops make the duo a powerful combination on screen.
Initial reviews haven't glowed, but that didn't seem to dampen excitement.
"I'm going to see the movie as soon as it opens on Wednesday and I can't wait to see Maxi!" said Laura Gonzalez, 23. "The movies is supposed to be scary, but it'll be fun with them in it."
Some in Spain see Iglesia as a future breakout star from Spain.
"Maxi offers the whole package," says XP3D producer Raquel Carreras , who set up her Chromosome22 Films in Madrid. "He's got the looks, the acting skills, he's working hard on his English and he's serious about his career."
