BERLIN -- Sony will roll out its Qriocity streaming video service across Europe this fall, Sony CEO Howard Stringer announced at the IFA trade fair in Berlin. The VOD offering will start in the big five Euro territories -- Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the U.K.
Called "Video on Demand powered by Qriocity" (pronounced curiosity), the service launched stateside in April, offering "hundreds" of feature titles from Sony, Paramount, NBC Universal, Disney Fox, MGM and Lionsgate. The European version will also include titles from local-language giants, Sony said.
Sony also used IFA as its launch pad for its new cloud-based music service Music Unlimited, on Wednesday (THR 9/1).

The German tech trade fair, celebrating its fiftieth anniversary this year, runs through Sept. 8.
