Sony TV, Antena 3 Ink Three-Year First-Run Deal
The free-to-air deal includes rights to half the theatrical movies released by the studio from 2009 to 2011, including "An Education" and "Eat Pray Love."
MADRID -- Sony Pictures Television has signed a three-year exclusive first-run deal for feature films with Spain’s private network Antena 3.
The free-to-air deal, which includes rights to half of the movies released theatrically by Sony from 2009 to 2011, includes titles like Angels and Demons, The Taking of Pelham 123, The Karate Kid, The Tourist, An Education and Eat Pray Love.
Antena 3 also picked up a package of Sony hits like The Da Vinci Code, Maid in Manhattan and Hellboy.
The move comes just after the DeAPlaneta-controlled broadcaster announced a similar pact with Walt Disney at Mipcom and speaks to an appetite for U.S. product for the fledgling DTT channels popping up after last year’s analog blackout.
Antena 3 also signed on for upcoming feature films from Alliance Atlantis’ Madrid subsidiary Aurum Producciones for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1.
