Sony has won a bidding war to pick up an untitled comedy pitch from Matthew Bass and Theodore Bressman.
Bass and Bressman have heat at the studio already since they wrote the comedy project The Politician, which Seth Rogen is producing and to which Vince Vaughn just attached himself.
According to sources, the bidding went down on Friday, with Paramount and CBS Films also in the mix. By nightfall, Sony was on top.
David Alpert and Julian Rosenberg at Circle of Confusion will produce the project, whose logline is being kept under wraps. It is, however, being described as a new twist on the buddy cop comedy genre.
Matt Smith at Circle of Confusion will exec produce. Hannah Minghella and Jonathan Kadin is overseeing for the studio.
Bass is repped by CAA, Circle of Confusion and Felker Toczek. Bressman is repped by CAA and Jackoway Tyerman.
