The local adaptation of the FremantleMedia and Syco Entertainment franchise will air across 20 territories in the region.

Sony Pictures Television Networks has signed a multi-year deal with FremantleMedia International and Syco Entertainment for a second season of regional hit Asia’s Got Talent.

The English-language show premiered on Sony’s AXN channel in 2015. AXN spans some 20 territories across the Asia-Pacific region, including Japan, South Korea, India, China and much of Southeast Asia.

"We were the first channel to premiere a localized, pan-regional format 10 years ago and since then have consistently rolled out original productions that truly resonate with our viewers," said Virginia Lim, senior vp, Sony Pictures Television Networks in Asia. "This year, we’ll be expanding our slate to feature an AXN programming lineup that’s even more locally relevant with a bigger focus on social media engagement."

Talent auditions for season two are expected to begin in the coming months, with the first episode to premiere in the second half of the year.

"The first season of Asia’s Got Talent was an undeniable smash on AXN and brought together wonderful talent from 20 markets, making it one of the most engaging, fun and exciting productions globally," said George Levendis, head of international at Simon Cowell’s Syco, creator of the franchise.

The Got Talent franchise is one of the most successful reality TV formats ever, with 70 local versions produced across Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas and versions of the show airing in 186 countries around the world.
