South West Screen, BBC launch digi initiative

IFeatures will see three films greenlit for June 2010 shoot

LONDON -- One of Britain's biggest development agencies, South West Screen is partnering with BBC Films, the broadcaster's standalone filmmaking arm, on a digital movie-making initiative.

Named "IFeatures," the duo plan to partner on the development and production of a trio of movies in the South West region city of Bristol.

Currently open to writers, directors and producers from across the U.K., IFeatures organizers will select a dozen projects for an intensive six-month creative and commercial development process.

Three films will then go on to be greenlit for production in June 2010 to be made on a budget of £300,000 ($500,000). The films are scheduled to premiere in early 2011.

The official launch is set for this evening in Bristol, a city that plays host to the setting for TV shows such as "Being Human" and "Skins" and also is home to Aardman Animations.
