Spain, Argentina reinforce film bond
BUENOS AIRES -- Argentina and Spain announced two cross-promotional film series this week that organizers hope will nurture an already strong cinematic connection between the two countries. "Argencine-Madrid 2007" will premiere seven Argentine films in the Spanish capitol that were not released commercially in Spain. A similar event was held last year to strong reviews. "Madridcine-Buenos Aires 2008"" will bring movies helmed by Madrid filmmakers to Buenos Aires for a weeklong series in 2008. The events are sponsored by Argentina's Instituto Nacional de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales (INCAA) and Comunidad de Madrid. The two countries also announced future collaborations between their national film universities. In addition to sharing a common language, Argentina and Spain have many cultural ties and collaborate frequently on film productions.
